			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The M5 East Freeway was closed for scheduled night time maintenance work, from the 14/04/2013 – 17/04/2013.</p>

<p>During this closure period, Leighton Contractors Pty Limited, on behalf NSW Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) completed numerous planned, preventative and corrective works.</p>
<p>Various planned maintenance activities such as pit inspections, landscaping works and routine cleaning, took place as part of the regular and extensive freeways maintenance schedule.</p>
<p>The main activities carried out during the month of April, were:</p>
<ul>
<li>Commencement of the five yearly fire system deluge valve refurbishment</li>
<li>Jet fan six monthly maintenance</li>
<li>Energy absorbing barrier maintenance</li>
<li>Essential and non-essential distribution board yearly maintenance</li>
<li>Variable speed limit sign yearly maintenance</li>
</ul>
<p>Other planned maintenance activities also conducted during this closure included:</p>
<ul>
<li>Rubbish removal and vegetation trimming for freeway</li>
<li>Road Sweeping of the freeway</li>
<li>Road landscaping maintenance</li>
<li>Cleaning of cross passages within the tunnels</li>
<li>Tunnel wall washing</li>
<li>Overhead light replacement</li>
<li>Drainage pit maintenance</li>
<li>Inspections and testing of the Fire system</li>
<li>Inspections and testing of the Ventilation system</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The M5 East Freeway was closed for scheduled night time maintenance work, from the 17/03/2013 – 20/03/2013.<span id="more-1055"></span></p>
<p>During this closure period, Leighton Contractors Pty Limited, on behalf NSW Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) undertook various planned maintenance activities such as pit inspections, landscaping works and routine cleaning, as part of the extensive freeways maintenance schedule.</p>
<p>The main activities carried out during the month of March, were:</p>
<ul>
<li>Overhead light replacement</li>
<li>Extensive maintenance carried out on the ventilation dampers which are a critical part of the asset used to control air flow within the tunnel</li>
<li>Fire doors removed, realigned and reinstated</li>
<li>Replacement and testing of emergency and cabinet lighting</li>
<li>Repairs and cleaning of freeway operational cameras</li>
<li>Refurbishment of Tunnel Message Signs (TMS)  and repairs on the drip tray after over-height truck incident in the tunnel that occurred November 2012</li>
</ul>
<p>Other planned maintenance activities also conducted during this closure included:</p>
<ul>
<li>Rubbish removal and vegetation trimming for freeway</li>
<li>Road sweeping of the freeway</li>
<li>Road landscaping maintenance</li>
<li>Cleaning of cross passages within the tunnels</li>
<li>Drainage System clean</li>
<li>Inspections and testing of the Fire System</li>
<li>Inspections and testing of the Ventilation System</li>

<p>During this closure period, Leighton Contractors Pty Limited, on behalf NSW Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), undertook various planned maintenance activities such as pit inspections, landscaping works and routine cleaning, as part of the extensive freeways maintenance schedule.</p>
<p>The main activities carried out during the month of January, were:</p>
<ul>
<li>The removal of four jet fans from overhaul, which have been sent off for routine maintenance  and will be reinstalled in the next shut down scheduled for February</li>
<li>Weigh in motion station (WIMS) installation</li>
<li>Further repairs to damage caused by Overheight Vehicle incidents that took place back in November</li>
</ul>
<p>Other planned maintenance activities also conducted during this closure included:</p>
<ul>
<li>Rubbish removal and vegetation trimming for freeway.</li>
<li>Road Sweeping of the freeway</li>
<li>Cleaning of cross passages within the tunnels.</li>
<li>Tunnel wall washing</li>
<li>Overhead light washing</li>
<li>Line marking</li>
<li>Drainage system clean</li>
